Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 19, 2026
Blockapalooza (operated by Intergalactic Group LLC) is a private platform for verified residents of North Park Ave in Chicago. This page explains what information we collect, why, and who can see it. If anything here is unclear, email us — see Contact below.
The short version: this site exists to serve the residents who use it, not to sell their data or show them ads. Nothing you share here is sold, rented, or used to target advertising, to you or anyone else.
What We Collect
When you request access and, once approved, use the site, we collect:
- Account information — your email address, and if you sign in with Google or Apple, the name and profile photo those services share with us.
- Directory information — your household's name(s), address, household members (including children, if you choose to list them), pets, a photo, and an optional "fun fact," all of which you enter yourself.
- Emergency contact preferences — a phone number and whether you've opted in to receive emergency alerts from other residents.
- Content you post — Trusted Contact recommendations, Marketplace listings, Block Board posts, event sign-ups, photos you upload to the community gallery, and poll votes.
- Access request details — when you request to join, the name, email, and stated relationship to the block you provide, used solely so a host can review your request.
We do not knowingly collect information about children directly — household member entries for minors are added and controlled by their parent or guardian's account, not by the child.
Who Can See It
Blockapalooza is access-gated: only residents whose access has been approved by a host, and site admins, can view the directory, Trusted Contacts, Marketplace, Block Board, calendar, or photo gallery. Signing in alone does not grant access — every new account is reviewed before it can see anything private. This is a real technical restriction enforced on our servers, not just something hidden in the page you're looking at.
Within the approved-resident group, some information is visible to all approved residents (your directory entry, posts, listings), and some is visible only to you and site admins (your email address on file, emergency contact details, pending access requests).
How We Use It
- To operate the directory, Trusted Contacts board, Marketplace, Block Board, calendar, photo gallery, and seasonal events you choose to use.
- To send emergency alerts you've opted into, sign-in links, and notifications about activity you're part of (a nomination you submitted, a message to you, etc.).
- To review and approve or decline access requests.
- To keep the platform safe — for example, an admin may remove content that violates the Terms of Service.
We do not sell your information, use it to train third-party advertising models, or share it outside the tools below except as required by law.
Who We Share It With
We use a small number of service providers to run the site, each of whom processes data only to provide their service to us:
- Supabase — hosts our database, authentication, and file storage.
- Netlify — hosts the website and a small number of server-side functions (e.g. sending notification emails).
- Google and Apple — if you choose to sign in with Google or Apple, those services authenticate you and share your name/email with us per your settings with them.
We don't use any of these providers' data for advertising, and none of them are permitted to sell your data either.
Your Choices
- You can edit your own directory entry, photo, and emergency-alert preference at any time once you're signed in.
- You can opt out of emergency alerts, and you can choose not to fill in optional fields (pets, fun fact, secondary contacts).
- You can ask a host to remove your entry or account entirely — email us (below) and we'll process it.
Data Retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove your directory entry and personal content within a reasonable time, except where we're required to retain something (for example, moderation records related to a safety issue).
Changes to This Policy
If we materially change what we collect or how we use it, we'll update this page and note the date at the top. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the update.
